The Atom's mission is to support efforts made by local artists, educators, community organizations and businesses to express broad perspectives and experiences that encourage discussion and progress and to share observations about the social, political and impact of art on individuals, neighborhoods, schools and municipalities in the Texas cities Amarillo, Lubbock, Abilene, Midland and Odessa.This website was developed using the Joomla 5 Content Management System (CMS).
Joomla was developed out of another CMS called Mambo in 2005 and was developed as an open-source software free to download and use without any cost for the Joomla software.
Joomla has many similarities to another Open Source CMS WordPress, however, in my opinion Joomla offers many advantages over WordPress in designing a highly customized website.
I have used Joomla since I started my web design business in 2009 and today it is the only web development software that I use.
Some major features that have been developed that I really appreciate is that Joomla 5 is designed to make a website ADA Accessibility Compliant to the current laws for today's business, organizations and personal websites.
Joomla 5 even includes a Plugin that can be activated that will provide many of the required ADA Accessibility requirements.
The Atom website located at https://theatomtx.com provides for a variety of text and images requires for a local news website.
In addition to a large number of news articles that can located by a graphic side menu, those articles contain images from those news articles and in addition many of the news articles include a slideshow displaying many of the images related to those stories.
As I mentioned Joomla is a CMS (Content Management System) which means you don't have to be an experienced web designer to have the ability to add news articles and images, but also add other features such as slideshows and other features to help viewers search for content in the website.
